Drum Tuner — Features & How to Use

Detects drumhead pitch via mic and shows the deviation from the target note in real time.

Getting Started

1
Select kit — Choose a configuration (5pc, Jazz, Metal, etc.). Click a drum in the SVG diagram to select the target.
2
Start mic — Press "Start Mic" and grant microphone access.
3
Strike — Hit the center of the head. Pitch and deviation from target are shown.
4
Adjust tension — Follow the Tighten / Loosen indicator to reach the target.

Detecting Detune Between Heads

Amplitude envelope analysis detects pitch difference (beating) between batter and resonant heads. Smaller beat frequency = heads closer in tune. "None" means both heads are in sync.

Strike the center
Rim shots or edge hits produce too many overtones. Hit the center lightly.
Tighten in a star pattern
Turn each lug a little at a time — don't overtighten any single lug.
Use a quiet space
Ambient noise affects pitch detection accuracy.
Tune both heads
Batter sets pitch; resonant shapes sustain. Tune both for best tone.
